THE Department of Education (DepEd)-National Capital Region (NCR) has suspended classes in the entire Metro Manila from January 15 to January 22, 2022 “to ease the health burden” to school personnel and students brought about by the surge of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.

Classes will resume on January 24 to 29 but are limited to asynchronous distance learning modalities.

“For the duration of the suspension of classes, it is expected that physical reporting of teachers will not be required by the school head,” the DepEd-NCR said in a memorandum.

It said the mid-year break scheduled on January 31 to February 5, 2022 will be used in order to cover up the backlogs in learning outputs brought by the suspension of classes.

The quarter 2 examination was set from February 7 to 8, while the submission of learning outputs by the students was scheduled from February 7 to 12 through online platforms and other non-in-person mechanisms.

“The lost contact days shall be compensated by mechanisms such as independent study, remediation, enhancement activities and other related teaching-learning interactions. The School Heads are instructed to design schemes/strategies in order to operationalize these mechanisms,” it said.

“It is highly encouraged that the teachers and learners to just stay at home to avoid the contamination of the virus,” it added. (SunStar Philippines)
