PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte cast his vote Monday, May 13, at his designated polling precint in his hometown Davao City.

The President arrived at the Daniel R. Aguinal National High School in Matina Crossing, Davao City at around 4:30 p.m. to vote for this year's midterm National and Local Elections.

The President, who was accompanied by his long-time partner Cielito "Honeylet" Avanceña, agree in a chance interview after voting that this year's elections can be construed as a referendum on his performance.

"It could be taken as one as referendum [on my performance]. So if you agree with me, then you can vote for my candidates or the people I'm supporting in the election," he told reporters in Davao City after casting his vote.

The President is campaigning for the senatorial lineup of his political party PDP-Laban.

Although surrounded by his security aides, Duterte did not get any special treatment as he exercised his right to vote with other ordinary voters.

Duterte used the same chair he used when he cast his vote for the 2016 presidential race.

It took the President about 13 minutes in filling up his ballot.

It was the first time that Duterte cast his vote as Chief Executive after he failed to vote in the synchronized village and youth council elections last year.

On May 14, 2018, Duterte did not cast his vote, saying that the conduct of the twin polls was just "purely political." (SunStar Philippines)
