Duterte names new Sandiganbayan, Court of Appeals justices

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Georgina Hidalgo and Emily Aliño-Geluz as associate justices of the Sandiganbayan and the Court of Appeals, respectively.

Hidalgo’s appointment paper was signed by Duterte on Monday, June 18, while Geluz’s appointment paper was inked on April 30.

A copy of the their appointment papers were made public by Malacañang on Wednesday, June 20.

Hidalgo replaced former Sandiganbayan associate justice Rodolfo Ponferrada.

Aliño-Geluz, on the other hand, took over the post vacated by former Court of Appeals associate justice Leoncia Dimagiba.

Hidalgo was a judge of Caloocan City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 122, while Aliño-Geluz served as acting presiding judge of the Trece Martires City RTC Branch 23 prior to their new appointments. (Ruth Abbey Gita/SunStar Philippines)
