THE eldest son of Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) director Nicanor Faeldon Sr. will remain behind bars even after he tested negative for illegal drug use.

Naga City police chief Senior Superintendent Felix Servita Jr. said Nicanor Faeldon Jr. is not yet off the hook because he was arrested inside a suspected drug den.

Under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, individuals arrested inside such a facility may be imprisoned for 12 to 20 years depending on the discretion of the court.

Servita said they may also be fined if it will be proven that they were aware of the illegal drug transactions in the area where they were arrested.

The younger Faeldon was arrested on Friday, December 14, during a raid in the residence of Sandra Lanuzo in Barangay Mabolo in Naga City. Lanuzo is the live-in partner of the young Faeldon.

The subject of the operation was Russel Lanuzo, who was arrested during the operation. Seven sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride was recovered during the operation.

Faeldon said he was not aware of Lanuzo’s illegal drugs transaction. Earlier, the BuCor director vowed to step down from his post if his son is proven to be an illegal drug user.

He also said he will be the one to personally hunt him down and kill him if he tested positive for drug use.

The older Faeldon said his son moved to Naga, together with Sandra, around six months ago to study.

Faeldon Sr. has also been implicated in illegal drugs following the discovery of P6.4 billion worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, in a warehouse in Valenzuela City.

Faeldon, who was then the Bureau of Customs chief, was detained at the Senate over his refusal to attend the Senate hearing to shed light on the matter. (SunStar Philippines)
