Sunnexdesk

FILIPINO healthcare workers in the United Kingdom (UK), whose visas are due to expire before October 2021, may continue working there for one more year.

The UK government has announced free visa extensions for crucial frontline health workers and their dependents, according to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia said Filipino doctors, nurses, paramedics, midwives, occupational therapists, psychologists and other healthcare workers will benefit from this policy.

There are an estimated 200,000 Filipino workers in the UK, most of whom are employed as healthcare workers.

The UK government earlier asked to be exempted from the cap on deployment of Filipino healthcare workers. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
