PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief Archie Gamboa on Sunday, August 16, 2020, denied holding a party in Baguio City.

He said he hosted a dinner at the PNP chief’s cottage near the Navy Base over the weekend, but said he, his contingent and guests observed social distancing and complied with the health protocols.

“There was no party or concert. It was a dinner that ended at 9:30 p.m. Social distancing was strictly followed and the food was individually catered,” said Gamboa.

He said they arrived in three vehicles and underwent triage as required by the Baguio City Government of its visitors.

Gamboa said Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong was aware of their presence and they duly coordinated with the City Government for their activities.

“Today, Mayor Magalong and I had a meeting with the PNP officials from Baguio and Cordillera to brief me on the peace and order situation of the region,” he added.

Baguio City police director Colonel Allen Rae Co said police and military officials were in the city for a “low-key” testimonial parade which was cancelled due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

“In deference to the current situation, the leadership of the DND, AFP and the honorees themselves decided to forego with the activity,” he said.

Co said Gamboa’s visit was well coordinated and the visitors abided by the health protocols in the city.

Some residents living near the PNP chief’s cottage claimed they heard an acoustic band playing on Friday evening. (SunStar Philippines)
