THE Israeli Police is willing to train Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel on anti-terrorism measures, PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde said Monday, June 3, 2019.

“What we asked from them is training kasi alam naman natin talaga sila is always very alert. Iba talaga ang level of training nila it’s because iba ang level of threat sa kanila so I asked if probably have training to be conducted here at the PNP and dito sa mga camps namin and they are very willing to share their skills and knowledge,” he said.

Albayalde attended a week-long seminar from May 27 to June 1 in Israel, where his Israeli counterpart verbally agreed to train Filipino policemen.

The PNP chief noted that police intervention in Israel is “very stringent” due to the imminent threat that the country faces each day.

“Our discussion with the Israeli counterparts focused on the challenges being faced by the Philippine National Police, our campaign against terrorism, specifically, the ISIS, and our continuing efforts to fight this menace,” said Albayalde.

He said the PNP will closely coordinate and cooperate with their counterparts particularly on the matter of boosting security response to terror attacks.

The PNP chief said there is no monitored or reported threat to the country’s security but the PNP remains on active mode against any terror attacks.

“The PNP continues to be aggressive in intelligence and information gathering to address threats and violence,” he said. (SunStar Philippines)
