Man arrested in Northern Samar over P69M shabu

AUTHORITIES have arrested a man who yielded P69 million worth of illegal drugs in Northern Samar.

In a report from the Allen Municipal Police Station, Mangayao Lapan Matimora, 40, a resident of Paliparan, Mabuhay City, Dasmariñas, Cavite was arrested in Barangay Jubasan around 2:45 p.m. on January 31.

Police said personnel of the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) were conducting an operation in the area when they chanced upon the suspect and intercepted him for not wearing a seatbelt.

It said he also had an unregistered official receipt with an impoundable penalty.

“The suspect was invited to [HPG] office for verification. Thereat, the offender while being interviewed by HPG officers admitted that there were shabu in the vehicle,” police said.

Seized from the suspect’s vehicle were 10 blocks of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with an estimated street value of P69 million.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against Matimora. (SunStar Philippines)
