Marcos declares over P623M worth of campaign expenditures

INCOMING President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has declared over P623 million worth of expenditures during the campaign for the 2022 national elections.

Marcos’ legal counsel filed his Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (Soce) with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

He declared a total of P623,230,176.68 worth of campaign expenses in which a huge part was used for television advertisements, political rallies and poll watchers.

Based on the Soce, Marcos did not spend a single centavo out of his pocket for the campaign.

It also showed that he received a total of P624,684,320.09 worth of donations.

Lawyer Drixel Dabatos, a member of Marcos’ legal team, said they will pay the income tax for the excess campaign donations.

Meanwhile, incoming Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio declared a total of P216,190,244.91 campaign expenditures, which all came from donations and contributions of supporters.

She has no excess donations.

As mandated by Section 14 of Republic Act 7166, "no person elected to any public offices shall enter upon the duties of his office until he has filed the statement of contributions and expenditures herein required."
