More than 1,500 new infections, but below 2,000 for 18 straight days

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, November 27, 2020, reported 1,631 new coronavirus infections, breaking the three straight days of less than 1,500 a day.

However, the number remains below 2,000 for 18 days in a row now.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, there are now a total of 425,918 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country.

The cities and provinces with the highest number of new cases are Quezon City (116), Rizal (101), Davao City (95), Laguna (89), and Manila City (65).

The DOH also reported 46 additional mortalities, raising the death toll from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to 8,255. The case fatality rate remained at 1.94 percent.

There are now a total of 387,616 recoveries, including 370 new recoveries on Friday.

There remain 30,047 active cases, referring to coronavirus-positive individuals who are still in the hospitals or in quarantine. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
