New Covid-19 cases in PH stay below 6,000

THE Department of Health (DOH) recorded anew less than 6,000 new cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) and thousands of recoveries in the country Monday, May 17.

In its 4 p.m. Monday case bulletin, the DOH said 5,979 additional infections were reported, raising the total caseload to 1,149,925. Of the total confirmed cases, 54,235 are considered active.

The number of patients who have recovered from the disease has reached 1,076,428, with 6,602 more recoveries reported Monday.

Seventy-two more patients, however, have succumbed to Covid-19, bringing the death toll to 19,262.

The DOH said 95.4 percent of the confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country are mild or asymptomatic cases.

It called on the public anew to continue to observe the minimum health protocols and register for Covid-19 vaccination to further bring down the number of infections in the Philippines.
