No new death logged in PH due to tech issues

THE death toll from coronavirus disease (Covid-19) remained at 37,405 as no new mortalities were reported Friday, September 24, due to technical issues in the government’s Covid database.

In its 5 p.m. Friday bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said the Department of Information and Communications Technology is currently addressing the issues encountered by the CovidKaya system.

The DOH, however, announced 18,659 additional Covid-19 cases that brought the total confirmed infections in the country to 2,453,328. These new cases also brought the number of active infections to 175,324, which is 7.1 percent of the total cases.

The number of people who have survived Covid-19 also climbed to 2,240,599 with 9,088 recoveries reported Friday. This means that 91.3 percent of individuals who got the virus were able to recover.

Of the active cases, the DOH said 88.1 percent have mild symptoms, 6.9 percent were asymptomatic, 2.84 percent were considered moderate cases, 1.5 percent were severe, and 0.7 percent were in critical condition.

The DOH said all the Covid-19 laboratories in the country were operational on September 22, but one was not able to submit data to the repository system.

The laboratory that failed to submit data contributd more or less 0.3 percent of all the samples tested or 0.3 percent of all the individuals who tested positive. (LMY)
