ANGELES in Pampanga, one of the major cities in Luzon, remains under “very high risk” classification for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) but the number of cases is already declining, Octa Research fellow Dr. Guido David said on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

David said the decrease in the average daily attack rate (Adar) of Angeles City from 35 on January 13-19 to 33 on January 20-26, as well as the decline in its seven-day positivity rate from 53 percent to 43 percent “suggests that the trajectory is now downward.”

The city’s seven-day average cases also went down to 155 on January 20-26 from 163 over the past week, while its reproduction number, or the number of individuals infected by one case, decreased from 2.40 to 1.43.

David said the Adar, reproduction number and seven-day positivity rate of Angeles is still under very high risk classification.

But he said the healthcare utilization rate and intensive care unit occupancy in Angeles remained under low and very low risk classification, respectively, over the past two weeks.

Of the total of 5,218 active Covid-19 cases in the province of Pampanga, 1,367 were in Angeles City.

Over 18 Covid-19 cases have been detected in the city since the pandemic started in 2020. It has a total of 301 Covid-19 deaths and 16,759 recoveries. (SunStar Philippines)
