THE Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, August 3, 2020, reported 3,226 additional coronavirus infections that brought the total case count in the Philippines to 106,330.

Monday's daily tally was lesser than those in the past four days.

In its case bulletin as of 4 p.m. Monday, DOH also listed 46 additional deaths, raising the death toll to 2,104.

An additional 275 patients recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), increasing the total to 65,821.

DOH said it removed 81 duplicates from the total case count and updated the outcomes of two cases. One was previously reported as death but was updated as a recovery while one recovered patient was updated as a mortality.

Of the 3,226 new cases, 2,543 occurred in the last 14 days, or from July 21 to August 3.

The areas with the highest number of new cases were National Capital Region (NCR) with 1,267, Calabarzon with 445 and Central Visayas with 353.

Of the 46 deaths, 37 occurred in July, six in June, two in May and one in March.

Thirty-eight mortalities were from Central Visayas, three from NCR, two from Cordillera, and one each from Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Western Visayas.

The additional cases were collated from reports of 66 testing laboratories, DOH said.

The Philippines saw record high cases of infection in the past four days, with the DOH reporting 3,954 on July 30, 4,063 on July 31, 4,903 on August 1, and 5,032 on August 2.
