Over 8,000 new Covid cases, highest in 2 months

THE Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, July 30, 2021, reported 8,562 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the highest since the 8,748 cases on May 28, 2021.

The DOH also reported 145 additional deaths and 2,854 new recoveries.

The new cases brought the total case count to 1,580,824. Two laboratories failed to submit their testing output to the Covid-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) last July 28.

The additional deaths raised the death toll to 27,722. The case fatality rate remained at 1.75 percent.

There are now 1,491,182 recoveries, comprising 94.3 percent of the total count.

The number of active cases climbed to 61,920, or 3.9 percent of the total cases. Of these, 94 percent were mild, 2.1 percent were severe, 1.4 percent were moderate, 1.2 percent were critical and 1.2 percent were asymptomatic. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
