Over P1-B shabu seized in Quezon City-Cavite drug busts

ABOUT 260 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P1.768 billion were seized in two separate Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-led joint operations in Quezon City and Cavite.

The first operation was conducted around 10:30 a.m. in Banawe, Quezon City and resulted in the arrest of Cai Jia Zhu, alias Anson Chua, 41, a resident of Bacoor, Cavite.

Forty kilos of shabu worth P272 million was seized from the suspect. Also confiscated were a mobile phone, identification cards, and a Toyota Corolla.

An hour after Chua’s arrest, a follow-up operation was conducted around 11:30 a.m. in a subdivision in Dasmariñas, Cavite, resulting in the arrest of Hai Lin, 41, a resident of Dasmariñas.

Seized from the suspect were 220 kilos of shabu worth P1.496 billion, a mobile phone and identification cards.

PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva presented the seized illegal drugs on Sunday, July 3, 2022, together with other PDEA officers.

The PDEA said cases for violation of Article II of Republic Act 9165 have been readied against the two suspects. (LMY/SunStar Philippines)
