AUTHORITIES seized Thursday afternoon, February 21, over 1,000 pieces of ecstasy tablets worth at least P2 million at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the Bureau of Customs (BOC) said.

The BOC said its personnel were forced to examine and open the package declared as light boxes after nobody claimed it since it arrived at the Central Mail Exchange Center in NAIA in October.

A total of 1,269 tablets of ecstasy with an estimated street value of P2.157 million were found inside the package, which came from a certain G. Voorthuzen from the Netherlands.

The recovered party drugs were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Friday noon, February 22. (SunStar Philippines)
