PH sees 590 new Covid-19 cases

AFTER seeing over 1,000 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases on Friday, the Department of Health (DOH) Saturday, May 30, reported close to 600 positive cases of the novel coronavirus.

Based on the latest Case Bulletin, the DOH said 590 new Covid-19 cases were reported on Saturday as of 8 p.m.

This brings the country’s total to 17,224 cases, said the DOH.

Of the newly reported cases, a total of 252 are considered as “fresh cases”.

On the other hand, the DOH said the other 338 are identified as “late cases”.

“Fresh cases” are defined as test results released to patient within last three days.

“Late cases” are test results released to patient after more than four days.

Among the Covid-19 cases, eight new fatalities were recorded Saturday.

This brings to 950 the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country.

Also, on Saturday, the DOH reported 88 new cases of recoveries among Covid-19 patients.

This means that there is now a total of 3,808 Covid-19 patients that have recovered from the disease. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
