SAF troopers deployed in 10 Metro Manila public markets

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) deployed on Tuesday, April 21, over 100 Special Action Force (SAF) troopers in 10 public markets in Metro Manila to enforce social distancing rules.

Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, Joint Task Force Covid Shield commander and PNP deputy chief for operations, said 116 SAF members along with six Medium Troop Carriers (MTC) and six Multi-Purpose Armored Vehicles (MPAV) were deployed to augment the local police in the following wet markets:

  • Blumentritt in Sta. Cruz, Manila
  • Libertad in Pasay City
  • Pasig Palengke
  • Napindan, Taguig
  • Lower Bicutan, Taguig
  • Public Market of Las Pinas City
  • North Caloocan
  • Alabang Public Market
  • Bagong Paranaque Public Market
  • Marikina Public Market
