A NEW lawmaker representing the Kabayan Party-list took his oath of office as a member of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, October 3.

Kabayan Representative Paul Hernandez took his oath before House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Hernandez, a missionary pastor, is the fourth nominee of the Kabayan Party-list in the 2016 elections.

He replaced Kabayan Party-list Rep. Ciriaco Calalang, who died last September 23 after a massive stroke.

Calalang took his oath as Kabayan Rep. last January, months after then Kabayan Rep. Harry Roque was appointed as presidential spokesperson.

According to the Kabayan Party-list, the experiences of Hernandez as a pastor will enable him to espouse the core advocacies of the party-list such as upholding the right to education, supporting overseas Filipino workers and assisting homeless Filipinos through a comprehensive housing program, among others.
