Community cop tails witness’ wife

Jill Tatoy-Rabor

THE WIFE of the witness to the shooting spree in Barangay Nangka, Balamban felt threatened by a member of the Barangay Intelligence Network (BIN).

Ana Marie Buot, 48, had the incident recorded in the blotter at the Balamban Police Station, after she noticed Eliseo Barangan, a BIN member, following her on his motorcycle in Barangay Baliwagan earlier this month.

PO3 Johnrell Romero said Barangan allegedly tailed Buot while she was in a trisikad.

The BIN member wore a bonnet, but he was identified through his motorcycle.

Buot was on her way home when she noticed Barangan, said Romero.

NBI

The incident was also reported to National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 supervising agent Rennan Oliva.

Buot is the wife of Baliwagan Councilor Alfonso Buot Jr., whose affidavit lead to the filing of criminal complaints against PO3 Jose Baldicasa Jr. and BIN member Dennis Mancia.

Baldicasa and Mancia were tagged suspects in the death of Ernel Bucag, 21, and Rey Toong, 20, last Feb. 7.

Rhembran Estan, 19, his cousin Clint Estan, 24, and Maynard Leonor survived the incident.

Buot Jr.’s statements corroborated with the other witnesses of the incident.

Barangan was identified as the driver of a motorcycle that allegedly tagged along with the suspects who boarded a separate motorcycle.

Patrol car

The vehicles headed to Nangka after receiving reports that a patrol car was pelted with stones.

Councilman Buot saw Baldicasa holding a submachine gun, which matched the statements of Rhembran and Toong.

Rhembran’s sworn statement identified the gunman to have been wearing a black jacket, brown short pants and a mask, matching his descriptions with that of Buot’s.

Further, Rhembran said the masked gunman got down from a blue motorcycle armed with a KG-9 submachine gun.

The blue motorcycle was the same one that Buot saw driven by Mancia with Baldicasa as passenger.
