THE Negros Occidental Provincial Board (PB) approved Wednesday the letter of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. requesting for the passage of a resolution allowing the conduct of the 10th Negros Island Organic Farmer's Festival on November 25 to 29.

The PB also approved the disbursement of the approved budget for the said festival amounting to P2.5 million.

The activity will coincide with the Provincial Government's hosting of the 12th National Organic Agriculture Congress on November 25 to 27 at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

Earlier, Onopra president Ramon "Chinchin" Uy Jr. said that the 12th National Organic Agriculture Congress, to be hosted in the province, will gather farmers, producers and agri-preneurs in the country to share best practices, knowledge and experiences in the field of organic agriculture.

The 10th Negros Island Organic Farmers' Festival, on the other hand, will showcase major organic crops of local farmers and agri-preneurs of both the Occidental and Oriental Negros, providing them the venue to also generate income and widen market potentials.

These activities are eyed to further boost the country's organic industry with Negros Occidental as the leading organic province and is poised to be the "Organic Food Bowl of Asia," Uy said.
