Officer, cop wounded in Basilan gun attack

TWO policemen, including a senior officer, were wounded in a broad daylight gun attack in Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province, the police reported on Sunday.

The Isabela City Police Station reported the incident took place around 11 a.m., Sunday, at the gymnasium located beside the City Hall.

The police identified the victims as Superintendent Jay Esteban Agcaoili, the deputy police chief of Isabela City and Police Officer Jayson Pamposa.

Initial investigation showed the victims were playing basketball when shot by a gunman, who is reportedly in his teens.

The suspect boarded into a motorcycle driven by an accomplice and sped off after the incident.

The victims were rushed to a hospital in Isabela City and later transferred to a medical facility in Zamboanga City.

Investigation continues in a bid to establish the identity of the gunman, the police said. (Sunnex)
