15 people nabbed for illegal fishing

THE police have apprehended three fishing boats with a total of 15 crewmen on board off shore Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Thursday.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police Office reported that the apprehension was made around 12:31 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal waters of Naga town.

The police said the policemen from Naga Police Station were conducting seaborne patrol when they intercepted and caught in the act the three fishing boats engaged in illegal fishing locally known as “zipper-zipper.”

The police have conducted seaborne patrol following the reported illegal fishing activity in the municipal waters of Naga.

The police identified the arrested fishing boat crew as the following: Ronilo Napigkit, 21; Winie Dinoy, 50; Renato Ambato, 27; Sany Justiniane, 21; Allan Villacorta, 24; Ariel Dela Peña, 28; Jeffrey Bantilan, 18; Dante Dinoy, 44; Yhan Dela Peña, 24; Dante Martinito, 39; Rolando Rodrigo, 44; Arnold Bernardo, 30; Arman Bernardo, 34; Ricky Silud, 24; and, Denicito Oroc, 31, married.

The fishing boats and fishing gears were turned over to the Agriculture authorities.

The arrested crewmen were booked at the police station and they too were turned over to the Agriculture authorities, the police said.
