CLOSE to two thousand runners have signed up for the Fifth Cebu Doctors’ University (CDU) Run on Aug. 15 at the CDU campus, Mandaue City.

“Our first 500 personalized bibs have already been allocated,” said Dr. Yong Larrazabal III. He said the CDU Run is the first race in the country to give out personalized bibs.

With seven days to go before the cut-off date, Larrazabal is confident they will reach their target of 3,500 runners.

“We cannot go beyond 3,500 runners because of the safety and security concerns. We have also asked for the help of React and as well as the Mandaue Traffic team to in taking care of the safety of our runners,” Larrazabal said.

Aside from the 10K, 5K and 3K contests, Larrazabal said three running clubs—Ungo Runners, Run Belly Run and the Guardo Runners—will join the inter-club dance contest.

“This year, we will also have a special 3K route for our student so there will be no mix-up,” Larrazabal said.

Larrazabal and fellow marathoner Dr. Peter Mancao will also conduct a talk on running at the CDU campus at 2 p.m. on Aug. 12.
