NINETEEN illegal fishermen were arrested off the waters of Madridejos, Cebu for allegedly using fine nets around 6 a.m. on Monday, June 5.

The use of fine nets is a violation of the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998.

Authorities identified the illegal fishers as Nelson Bohol, Hadji Bermijo, Raymond Moises, Jason Maglasang, Nene Rosales, Benz Valderama, Ronnie Berneo, Dionelo Flores, Dante Canabal, Alvin Loreno, Asking Mapuos, Elmar Arcilla, Larry Dejulian, Rolly Reyes, Nopie Lobaton, Ricky Orong, Jake Alvarez, Fidel Dumadaug, and Toto Reyes.

Seized from them were 10 kilograms of fish, fishing gears and three boats. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
