19 schools to vie in Dinagyang drum, bugle and lyre tilt

A TOTAL of 15 elementary schools and four high schools in Iloilo City and Iloilo province will vie for the 2015 Dinagyang Tambor Trumpa Martsa Musika Competition on January 23 at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand.

Iloilo City Schools Division Superintendent Nelly Valerio said the participants will attend the parade formation from the Provincial Capitol to the Freedom Grandstand to render their performance of 10 minutes each.

Contestants are required to perform two pieces, an Ilonggo folksong and a free choice of medley composition.

Valerio said the annual competition is open among public and private elementary and secondary schools to show off their drum, bugle and lyre musical group.

The contestants in the elementary level are Iloilo Central School, Rizal Elementary School, A. Montes II Elementary School, La Paz I Elementary School, Jaro I Elementary School, Jaro II Elementary School, Cubay Elem School, Sambag Elementary School, Mndurriao Elementary School, D. Pison Mem Elementary School and Arevalo Elementary School, all from the Division of Iloilo City.

The contestants from the Division of Iloilo elementary level are the Alimodian Central Elementary School, Alibago Elementary School, Culasi Ajuy Elementary School and the Dingle Central Elementary School.

The contestants from the secondary level are R. Avancena National High School, Iloilo City National High School, Iloilo National High School, and Dingle National High School.

Winners will get P25,000 and trophy for first place, P20,000 and trophy for the second place, P15,000 and trophy for the third place, and P5,000 for the consolation prize.
