1st Forwarder Run set

THE Crest Forwarder Inc. will organize the 1st Forwarder's Run on Oct. 4 at the Cebu Business Park grounds dedicated to help the second operation of their colleague Mary Grace Tigbao.

Proceeds of the event will be used for the operation of Tigbao, 26, who was hit by a motorcycle last June 17 and suffered a head injury. Tigbao underwent a first operation last June, which cost around P600,000; the one is scheduled on Sept. 28.

“The run hopes to raise funds to help fund her operation,” said the member of the organizing committee, sales executive Christopher Mendoza.

Hazel Ferolino, a member of the organizing team, said they have seen Tigbao as a leader in the company for eight years and it is only fitting that they work together for an event to help her.

“We invite the runners and fitness buffs in Cebu, especially those who are in the forwarding industry. I hope we can gather a lot of participants for this event,” said John Lon Tibay of the board of directors.

Tigbao, a wife and a mother of two, said she is thankful to God for blessing her with another chance to live, and to her colleagues for organizing the run.

“The first surgery was done to release the pressure on my head, the blood clotting. They temporarily removed part of my skull and stored it in my abdomen,” she said. “The second surgery is scheduled to return that part of my skull on my head.”

The run for a cause will feature the men's and women's 3-kilometer, 6K and 12K categories, there will be an open and forwarder's division, the latter will be exclusive for the company's employees or those in the forwarding industry.
