2 dead bodies found in Zamboanga

TWO people were found dead, almost decapitated, in the nearby province of Zamboanga Sibugay, a police official said Tuesday.

Superintendent Jose Bayani Gucela, spokesman of the Zamboanga Peninsula Police Office (ZPPO), disclosed the victims' remains were recovered around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at a fishpond in the village of Canacan, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Gucela identified the victims as Gaudencio Pagaran Jr. and Mario Buhayan, both residents of Salipyasin village, Kabasalan town.

Gucela said investigation showed that the victims were hacked and killed around 1 a.m. Tuesday by six armed men who dumped their bodies at the fishpond.

He said the victims were found with their necks slashed and almost severed.

The police in Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay are conducting deep investigation to determine the motive of the incident as well as unmask the suspects.

Intelligence operation was ongoing to identify and locate the whereabouts of the suspects, Gucela said. (Bong Garcia)
