2 militiamen killed in Basilan ambush

MEMBERS of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) have killed two militiamen in an ambush in the province of Basilan, the police reported Friday.

The Basilan Police Provincial Office identified the slain militiamen as Samie Jairulla and Abdulla Tabjili.

The police said the ambush happened around 7:50 a.m. Friday at Sitio Dak-Dak in the village of Kaumpamatsaken, Sumisip town, Basilan.

Police investigation showed the two militiamen were aboard a motorcycle on the way to Barangay Buli-Buli to buy rice and other foodstuff when the Abu Sayyaf bandits ambushed them.

The Abu Sayyaf bandits carted away two M16 Armalite rifles.

Troops have been deployed to track down the fleeing Abu Sayyaf bandits.
