2 persons nabbed

TWO persons were arrested last Sunday and Monday in the cities of Cadiz and Victorias for illegal possession of loose firearms.

Police Chief Inspector Noel Mana-ay, police chief of Cadiz City, identified the suspect as Jerjer Montero, 18, a resident of Barangay Caduhaan, Cadiz.

Mana-ay said Montero was arrested by the local police led by Inspector Gil John Despi along corner Magsaysay-Mabini Streets in Barangay Zone 3.

An improvised caliber 38 revolver with five rounds of live bullets was recovered from Montero's possession.

In Victorias City, a 37-year-old man was also collared for illegal possession of loose firearm on Sunday evening.

Superintendent Jomil John Trio, police chief of Victorias City, identified the suspect as Jorge Fortuna, a resident of Relocation Site in Barangay 21, Victorias.

Trio said the suspect was nabbed by the local police led by Senior Police Officer 1 Jose Novea Jr.

A homemade caliber 38 revolver with four empty shells was recovered from the possession of the suspect.

The arrest of the two suspects was part of the Negros Occidental police's campaign against loose guns in the province.

Both suspects are now detained pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 8294 (Amended Firearms Law) against them. (MAP)
