2 tourists hurt when two passenger boats collide in Hundred Islands

TWO tourists were hurt when two passenger boats collided along the shore in the Governor's Island within the Hundred Islands at about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, the police reported Monday, May 22.

The two were identified as Dianne Angela Abasta, 17; and Cristina Zarzuela, 40, an Overseas Filipino Worker, both passengers of MB Babi 1 piloted by one Francis Abella, which was hit at the right side by MB Zafiel driven by one Jonnie Navarro.

Both victims suffered injuries in different parts of their bodies and were rushed to the Western Pangasinan District Hospital for treatment.

The accident happened when MB Babi 1 was maneuvering to land at the Governor's Island while MB Zafiel 1 was about to leave the place just after unloading tourists.

The other 13 other passengers of MB Bambi 1 were unhurt.

Investigation showed that Navarro did not notice the approaching MB Babi 1 as he was removing the water of his boat at that time.

Both motor boats incurred undetermined amount of damages as a result of the collision. (PNA)
