21 fruit vendors secure permits

A TOTAL of 21 fruit vendors in Bacolod City secured special permits to sell at the Gonzaga Street side of Bacolod public plaza for the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Executive assistant Ernesto Pineda, chief coordinator of Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force, said Tuesday, December 19, that they will limit the area to only 22 fruit vendors.

He said the vendors paid P400 each for the special permit.

“They can display once they already secured a permit and we will monitor the area,” Pineda added.

The City Government will still implement the “one meter by one meter” space for sidewalk vendors at the downtown area, but Pineda said they will give consideration to the fruit vendors.

The fruit vendors can extend their areas, he said.

Meanwhile, Pineda said they are waiting for the final approval of Police Regional Office-Western Visayas for the permits of firecrackers vendors to display at the firecrackers zone behind the Pope John Paul II Tower at the Reclamation Area.

He said only the 76 firecrackers vendors who secured permits can display their goods.

The Bacolod City Police Office and the Bureau of Fire Protection will conduct a final inspection of the stalls within the week.
