THE Police Regional Office (PRO) in Negros Island Region (NIR) has recruited 300 trainees who will undergo training as Police Officers 1 (PO1s).

The recruits took an oath before Chief Superintendent Renato Gumban, acting regional director of PRO-18, in rites held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City on Wednesday.

After the reception rites, the recruits were given at least 30 minutes to say their goodbyes to their families as they officially enter the police service.

Of the 300 recruits, 255 were males and 45 were females.

They will undergo two six-month trainings at the Regional Training Center-Western Visayas located in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Gumban reminded them to always be disciplined and avoid illegal activities especially the illegal drug trade as they are now considered public officers expected to serve and protect the people.
