4-hour brownout set in Zambo City

John Dave N. Casas

THE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has scheduled a four-hour power interruption from 8 a.m. to 12 noon on Sunday, January 29, in Zamboanga City.

NGCP Regional Information Officer Elizabeth Ladaga said the power interruption will be implemented to facilitate the emergency shutdown of the 100-megavolt ampere (MVA) power transformer at the NGCP’s Pitogo sub-station for bushing validation test.

Ladaga said the emergency shutdown will entail power interruption along Pitogo-Tulungatung, Pitogo-Tumaga and Pitogo-San Jose Gusu 69-Kilovolt (KV) lines of the NGCP affecting the power sub-stations of the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) in the villages of Ayala, Recodo and San Jose Gusu.

Zamcelco Information Officer Ferdie Rodriguez said the electric consumers in areas under the Cabatangan and Camanchille sub-stations will experience brief power interruptions during the start and completion of works due to switching procedures to shift the two Zamcelco sub-station lines from Pitogo sub-station of the NGCP to Zamboanga sub-station and vice versa.

The Zamcelco member-consumers are advised to take the necessary precaution as restoration of power will resume immediately after the completion of work not necessarily following the given schedule.
