5 job-order employees positive in drug test

FIVE out of 45 job-order workers from the City Assessors and one out of 36 in Operation Second Chance tested positive in a drug test conducted by the Cebu City Office on Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap) last June 30.

Cosap head Gary Lao said the result has reached the Mayor’s Office. The Human Resource Development Office will give its recommendations.

“There is no compromise when it comes to drugs, especially if you are a government employee. Our recommendation is to terminate them,” Lao said.

Laoo said Cosap will design the drug test in such a way that no one can avoid it.

“We will change the way the tests are conducted because it’s easy for people to avoid them,” Lao said.

“How can we clean our surroundings if inside it’s very dirty? So if you ask me, I will terminate those who will test positive,” Lao said. (MSU Intern Rigine Clyr L. Arraz)
