THIS Sunday’s 5th edition of the Cebu Doctors’ University Run achieved a milestone as it drew 3, 327 participants.

“Five years ago, we started our University run with fewer than 1,000 runners and now I am so overwhelmed with how the number of runners has grown through the years,” said Dr. Potenciano “Yong “Larrazabal III.

In all, some 5,000 runners will be on the streets as another event, the IPI International 25K Marathon, also this Sunday, attracted 1,800 runners.

Larrazabal said the registration for the CDU run will be until noon today. However, they could close it early if they reach their maximum number of 3,500.

Aside from the local running personalities like Madelyn Carter and Simon Losiaboi, celebrity runners like Ruffa Mae Quinto will be joining this Sunday’s race.

“We are all ready for Sunday, I hope the weather is okay,” Larrazabal said.

The top finisher in the male and female 10K will get P10,000, a medal and a gift pack. The top finisher in the 3K will also get P3,000, a medal and a gift pack. There will also be prizes for the CDU Group and CDU students’ divisions.

They will hand out special awards to the youngest, oldest, smartest and sexiest runners. They will give out the Natural Blush and Best in Costume awards.
