AACI Transport beats AACI Farms, bags Fil-Sino crown

AACI Transport scored a convincing 83-75 to win over AACI Farms and capture the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade 2nd conference inter-color tournament title at Po Hang Gym, Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Mark Binguan found the right time to shine as he drilled 3 triples in the 1st quarter for his 11 points while Eugene Tsai, known for his defense, caught Farms off guard after he nailed 9 points in the shaded lane to put Transport on top 25-20 even as Arvin Gustilo and Ralph Richard Tan combined for 15 points for the Farms.

Transport extended the lead to 47-37 at the break behind the balance offense led by Jolly Castillo and Chibon Uy with 6 points apiece as teammates Julius Teruel and Rey Pandoro contributed with 4 points each. Johann Villanueva, on the other hand was the lone bright spot for Farms with 8 points.

The Pandoro –Tsai duo combined for 15 points in the final quarter to keep the Farms at bay by maintaining a double digit lead while Farms’ Tim Garrucho and Victor Go leading the offense for most part of the quarter.

Farms’ Gustilo hit a back to back trey to cut the deficit to 79-73 with 1:03 left. But a Binguan layup and Daniel Chiu 2 free throws at 32 sec. mark sealed the championship for Transport.  

Tsai topscored with 15 points, Binguan and Castillo with 14 points apiece, Pandoro 13, Chibon Uy 10, Chiu 9 and Teruel 6.

Gustilo delivered a gamehigh of 18 points, Ralph Richard Tan hit 12 points, Villanueva 10, Go Jr. 8, Ryan Frias 7, Rj Iligan 6 and Garrucho 5. (with reports from Stephen Tan)
