BACOLOD Professionals (Bapro) folded up in the dying minutes but recovered to survive Pag-ibig Fund, 101-97 in their quarterfinal bout on Monday in the WNU Interbarkada League at the West Negros University gym.

The number 3 Bapro (5-2) was leading 99-94 with 53 seconds left. The number 6 Funders (3-4) applied a full court press and Bryan Alunan hit a triple with 20.3 ticks.

Bald Deles split his charities with 16.3 remaining, 100-97. Trying to catch up, Pag-ibig’s Boggie Quizan pushed the ball up court and forced a triple which was short.

Loy Mirasol sank a free throw for the final count as the Bapro bench sighed in relief.

Bus Group-Sharp will play against Number 2 BBC Wednesday night at 7:30, while Bapro faces top team Probac (6-1) on Thursday at the same time, says Commissioner Jake Azucena.

Probac and BBC have a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals.

The Final winner gets a championship trophy plus one lechon and the loser a runnerup trophy, Azucena said. (with reports from Henry G. Doble/SCOOP-Bacolod0
