LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Puguis barangay chairman Evelyn Ramos said heightened police visibility is needed in the village.
Ramos hoped that with the new municipal police chief, visibility of cops during nighttime would ensue.
"We hope the police would the monitor curfew [and apprehend] violators," she said.
An 8 p.m. curfew is being implemented in the municipality to thwart drunken brawls.
"We ensure all stores are closed by 9 p.m., so we will have peace and order," Ramos said.
He added that one of the concerns of the barangay is the noise generated by establishments during curfew hours.
"It is noise pollution, sometimes we at the barangay personally address these problems, we go to the stores and ask them to close," he said.
Ramos said police on foot patrol will help the area be free of curfew violators.
He also said that one of the biggest problems being solved today is the relocation sites for typhoon Pepping evacuees, as majority of those rendered homeless are from Barangay Puguis.
Police are also manning the Tent City grounds on a night patrol to ensure safety of over 26 families still living there until a permanent relocation is finalized.
