Burnham roads to be repaired in time for BFF

THREE roads within Burnham Park will undergo repair in preparation for the Baguio Flower Festival this February.

Baguio City District Engineer Ireneo Gallato in a letter dated December 20 informed Mayor Mauricio Domogan that three road construction works for the improvement of Juan Luna Drive, Lake Drive 1 and Lake Drive 2, all in Burnham Park are scheduled to begin January 2.

Gallato said the contractor Tango Romeo Construction served notice to start the project at their own risk to complete the project in time for the Panagbenga.

The projects entitled "construction or improvement access roads leading to airport, seaports and declared tourism destination" will be funded by the national government under the Tourism Road Infrastructure Project (Trip) of the Department of Tourism and will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The projects were worked out last year by Domogan and former Representative Bernardo Vergara and later followed through by Representative Nicasio Aliping Jr.

City Environment and Parks Management officer Cordelia Lacsamana said they are now working out the transfer of the park concessionaires who will be affected by the construction to ensure that the road works can move as scheduled.

The projects which will be implemented by the will cover the concreting of the roads, sidewalks and improvement of drainage system. (Aileen Refuerzo)
