Businesswoman abducted in Zamboanga del Norte

A GROUP of gunmen seized a businesswoman in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, official said on Monday, September 19.

Abducted was Christina Yee, 60, who owns and manages a hardware in the coastal village of Poblacion, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Senior Superintendent Edwin Wagan, Zamboanga del Norte police director, said the incident took place around 3:40 p.m., Monday, in the village Poblacion, Sirawai.

Wagan said that based on initial investigation, Yee was at her hardware when seven unidentified gunmen, believed to be kidnap-for-ransom-group (KFRG) members, barged in and seized the victim.

Wagan said the suspects dragged Yee to a waiting double engine motorized banca and sped toward the village of Pugus, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

He said the Sirawai policemen have launched a manhunt to locate and possibly rescue the victim.

Wagan has ordered the police in the province to intensify intelligence to also locate the victim’s whereabouts. (Sunnex)
