PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has re-appointed Agrarian Reform Secretary John Rualo Castriciones, after the latter failed to secure the nod of the Commission on Appointments (CA) before it went on recess last March 23.

Malacañang on Tuesday, April 10, released Castriciones's appointment papers, which were signed by Duterte on March 21, or just a day after the powerful CA bypassed the Agrarian Reform chief's ad interim appointment.

On March 21, the CA deferred confirmation after several lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction with his experience and track record.

Prior to his stint at the Department of Agrarian Reform, Castriciones served as Department of Interior and Local Government's undersecretary for operations.

He was also one of the three Local Government undersecretaries who had a hand in the dismissal of former Local Government Secretary Ismael Sueno, who was accused of being involved in corrupt activities.

Castriciones is a lawyer who actively campaigned for Duterte's presidential bid in the May 9, 2016 elections.

Meanwhile, the President also named Rex Cambronero Robles and Jose Martin Loon as new members of the consultative committee that is tasked to review the 1987 Constitution.
