THERE will be an increase in police visibility today for the celebration of the Chinese New Year. Cebu City Police Office Director Joel Doria said that mobile patrols will be deployed in areas where Chinese New Year will be celebrated.

“We will let our mobile patrol conduct a roving operation in the area,” Doria said.

He said that personnel will be on standby in temples, malls and establishments to prevent malicious elements from taking advantage of the revelry.

“It’s good to have police visibility on the venues where they will be celebrating,” he said.

As for fireworks display, Doria said that the organizers must have permits.

“The Bureau of Fire Protection will also be on the lookout for any fireworks display while on our part, we have yet to receive information,” Doria said. (JOB)
