THE Cebu City Government has recognized the Department of Public Services (DPS), the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) and Engr. Nilo Igot of the Office of the Building Official, saying they are the real heroes of the city.

Igot, CCTO and DPS were among those awarded as this year’s Mayor’s Special Awards during the program organized by City Hall yesterday for the 80th Charter Day of the City.

In his speech yesterday, Osmeña said the City recognizes their efforts for working hard in the past months.

“They worked really hard. We have limited equipment, they strived. They did not sleep. This is what makes Cebu, Cebu,” the mayor said referring to DPS personnel.

The public, he said has also saw CCTO personnel standing in the middle of the rain, even during night and worked overtime just to keep the traffic moving.

City Hall also organized the awarding ceremony for outstanding individuals and outstanding institutions and the testimonial dinner at the Grand Convention Center.

Among the awardees for Outstanding Institution were Cebu K9–Crowd Control Volunteers and Cebu Kiwanis Club International, Inc.

For Outstanding Individuals, awardees include Dr. Carlito L. Astillero, Ahmed G. Cuizon and Jamie R. Herrell.
