Cebu lawmaker promises to help poor families (1:09 p.m.)

MANILA -- Cebu City's neophyte congresswoman vows to give cash assistance to every poor family in her district as she assumes office when the 15th Congress opens on July 26.

Representative Rachel "Cutie" Del Mar (North District, Cebu City), daughter of former Deputy Speaker Raul del Mar, will allot P25,000 for free medicines and hospitalization for members of poor families and another P10,000 will be earmarked for maintenance medicines for senior citizens; mother and child care pre-natal and post-natal services.

“My work plans are to continue and expand Deputy Speaker Del Mar’s projects for our constituents, especially the children, youth, women, and the elderly,” said the newbie lawmaker.
