THE battle of the top two teams in the 2017 Philippines Football League (PFL) went in favor of Ceres Negros FC, 6-0, which won their match up Sunday night at the Panaad in Bacolod City.

Ceres defeated FC Meralco Manila with Fernando Rodriguez’s hat trick,

Bienvenido Marañon’s brace, and another goal by Carlie de Murga.

With six more games left before the second round of elimination concludes on November 28, the Busmen said they are going to make their last home game memorable.

“It’s difficult playing with this kind of schedule. We have to keep our players from injuries because we still have a number of games set before us,” Ceres FC coach Risto Vidakovic said.

Describing their 5-1 victory over Davao Aguilas FC Wednesday evening, Vidakovic said they have to win that match in the early minutes.

“We have to win it early because Davao is also a strong team,” he said.

Meralco, meanwhile, is playing one of their last three games and is coming off a pair of close victories against Kaya FC Makati and JPV Marikina.
