DAVAO City is going to host various studies from different countries for its development, the Davao City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) said.

CPDO head Ivan Cortez said the study on the possible projects to be put up here will be funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica) and other agencies from China and Korea.

"We are very fortunate to be a model city to the entire country right now and we are lucky to have the President (Rodrigo Duterte) who is from our city. We are going to host a lot of study," Cortez said.

Cortez said the studies are about infrastructure, river system, and urban drainage system which will be funded by the Jica. He added Jica has already confirmed this to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

"Jica made a confirmation to DPWH that they will proceed with the study on the water waste here in Davao City in order for us to come up with a better solution in terms of flood[-related] problem[s]," Cortez said.

Cortez said the city will take into consideration the water behavior from the uplands to downstream so they would have a better understanding of where the overflow originate.

In terms of infrastructure, DPWH has already approved P14-billion for the infrastructure projects for the city, Cortez said.
