Clark to host int’l petanque tourney

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Clark Freeport will host the 8th Pan Pacific Petanque Championship at the Clark Parade Grounds set on May 30 to June 2.

The tournament is sponsored by Japan in cooperation with CDC and Philippine Petanque Association (PPA).

Vio Dela Cruz, coach and spokesperson of PPA, said they sent invitations to Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Chinese Taipei, India, South Korea, Laos, Mongolia, New Zealand, Thailand and Vietnam.

Dela Cruz said that each competing countries will have 10 participants, except for Japan which sponsored the tournament and the Philippines (host country).

Teams that will compete in the 8th lawn bowls tournament are from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, and the Philippines.

PPA is currently under Philippine Lawn Bowls Association- the home of national teams which represent the Philippines in international Petanque competitions.

Some 200 delegates from 18 countries are expected to join the competition.

The 7th Pan Pacific Petanque Championship was held in Brunei Darussalam.
