MANILA -- On her first day of work as congresswoman, Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former President of the country, was bashed by her colleagues in Congress dubbing her administration as corrup-ridden governance.

"Corruption was the signature of the administration of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo," said Akbayan party-list Representative Walden Bello as an opening remark in his privilege speech.

Arroyo and other members of the lower Congress who failed to attend the first House session took oath before House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte before Monday's session began.

As if repeating the anomalies that was earlier exposed by President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, Bello cited the over importation of rice, the exorbitant rewards for MWSS employees

and the calamity fund mostly channeled to a single district in Pampanga .

Bello said Arroyo should be punished for her wrongdoings and she should be transported soon from the House of Representatives to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

His 13-page speech also tackled the country's economic growth which failed to catch up with our neighboring countries, and the economic policies which, according to Bello, President

Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III should adapt. (Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
